Having cancer as a kid shouldn’t mean you can never get health insurance

In 2017, the country was facing the very real threat that Congress would overturn the newly enacted “Obamacare” or Affordable Care Act. President Donald Trump had made overturning the ACA a signature part of his campaign, and the Republicans were proposing a drastic bill that said those with “pre-existing conditions” wouldn’t be able to get health insurance. As a cancer parent and daughter, this issue hit close to home. My response was published in Cosmopolitan magazine.
